RFID

Tags and labels can also be equipped with a chip (RFID) that can be activated by means of electromagnetic energy induced by its own antennae. Writing and reading at a distance is thus possible, whereby the chip does not even have to be in the field of view of the transmitter.  

In principle, this type of marking is suitable for all products at room temperature and slightly elevated temperatures.

Although electrical fields are strongly influenced by the metallic products themselves as well as by the often-metallic environment, there are possibilities to successfully apply RFID in this environment as well. We see RFID as a promising way of marking different product types: Slabs, coils, pipes and even factory equipment can be marked and identified with the help of RFID technology.
